It is mid November and it is not a good day to travel. It had been raining and with the sub zero temperatures all the surfaces were slick with ice. My mom was sitting at her sewing maching patching a quilt. The phone rings, she answers. I can tell by the look on my moms face and the quick questions that it's serious. She hangs up and races to the closet grabbing her coat. In her hast to be gone she is looking down zipping her coat as she steps out onto the deck and onto the first step. As quick as the blink of an eye her feet shot out from under her. She went down hard, striking her back against the step and slid to the base. She bounced up like the energizer bunny and skidded over to the truck. The reason, there was a man, who she was told was not breathing and they thought he had a heart attack. She went and dealt with the situation without worry about her own injury that turned out to be two cracked ribs. It was only after she came home and the adrenaline rush had worn off that the pain set in.
This is my mom. She tends to put others before her and never says no to someone in need. I can think of other situations like this that have occured. This makes me admire my mother and want to be like her because shes such a caring women and willing to help anyone at anytime.
