Character Development

Will Ferrell is one of the star roles in step brothers. His character name is Brennan Huff, I found this character particularly interesting because he is hilarious. Brennan Huff is a 40 year old man living at home with his mom, later his mom marries a man named Robert Doback and he also has a son that is 40 named Dale Doback. They all live in a house together at first Breannan and Dale hate each other and would say rude slurs to each other like your a curly headed f*ck. Later on they realise they like the same things and become bestfriends. I found find them so interesting to watch because they are retardly funny. Theses Characters are protrayed as 40 year old men with adult bodies and teenage minds.

Bit by bit you realise that even know there actions are incredibly immature they are capible of becoming more adult in there behaviour. It is more that they have been over cared for by there parent and never been forced to make decisions or act like adults. You got a pretty good picture of what the characters were about with the comical silly actions that were carried out.

Character Sketch

It is mid November and it is not a good day to travel. It had been raining and with the sub zero temperatures all the surfaces were slick with ice. My mom was sitting at her sewing maching patching a quilt. The phone rings, she answers. I can tell by the look on my moms face and the quick questions that it's serious. She hangs up and races to the closet grabbing her coat. In her hast to be gone she is looking down zipping her coat as she steps out onto the deck and onto the first step. As quick as the blink of an eye her feet shot out from under her. She went down hard, striking her back against the step and slid to the base. She bounced up like the energizer bunny and skidded over to the truck. The reason, there was a man, who she was told was not breathing and they thought he had a heart attack. She went and dealt with the situation without worry about her own injury that turned out to be two cracked ribs. It was only after she came home and the adrenaline rush had worn off that the pain set in.

This is my mom. She tends to put others before her and never says no to someone in need. I can think of other situations like this that have occured. This makes me admire my mother and want to be like her because shes such a caring women and willing to help anyone at anytime.

Character Example

Recently i watched Dazed and Confused. I really enjoyed the character Randall 'Pink' Floyd, he is the starting quarter back on the football team. He starts to think differently over the summer about what he wants to do his senior year. He starts to hang around different people that has a different view on the world and they are Benny, Mel and Don they focus more on music and what marijuana and LSD can offer. The coach of the football team wants all the football players to sign a paper saying they will not drink or do any drugs over summer and during the football session.

The one scene at the end Randall and his buddies are hanging out on the football field at four in the morning, drinking and smoking some reefer. They get busted by the police and the police calls the coach. The coach comes down and gives Randall shit, then Randall decides that if he's going to play it will be on his terms and throws the paper at the coach. This lead me to believe that Randall is going in a different path with his choice.

Malcolm Gladwell

In our English class we watched a speech by Malcolm Gladwell. Malcolm Gladwell told a story about Howard Markowitz, It was about not just one thing pleases everyone... For example there is not just one pepsi favour there are different flavours. Not everyone likes the same thing. People don't really know what they want, just like with the coffee most people say they want rich dark hardy roast but really majority want weak milky. This is because most commercials on tv are dark hardy roast for coffee so then that makes people think thats what they want because everyone else is having it.
